SimPlant Dental Implant CT

For accurate imaging of dental implants and implant treatment planning, Regents Imaging offers the SimPlant Interactive 3D imaging software.

The SimPlan Editing package is important because metal in the patient's mouth causes a scattering of data during the CT scan. This scattering appears as white or black streaks in the CT data, but is isolated by slice. The scattering becomes a permanent part of the patient's CT scan and cannot be eliminated from the 2D images (axials, panoramics and cross-sectionals). Fortunately, special Editing software allows us to "erase" the scatter from the 3D image. The CT technologist can process the patient's CT data to remove the spinal column, erase scatter streaks, and "disconnect" the scan template or teeth from the other anatomy.
